Attention all SNAP Recipients:
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has announced the following:
“As a result of the February SNAP benefits being issued early Ohio is adjusting the March benefit issuance schedule. Eligible SNAP families will receive half of their March benefits on February 22, 2019, and the rest of the benefits will be issued on the normal March issuance date.”
This is to ensure that no household that was issued SNAP in January for February will go more than 40 days since its last issuance in January or more than 40 days until its next issuance in March.

SNAP Recipients Reminded that No Benefits will be Issued in February
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) has learned that some Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients have misconceptions about when they must spend benefits issued earlier this month because of the partial federal government shutdown.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture instructed states to make February SNAP benefits available to recipients by Jan. 20, since no benefits will be issued in February. In Ohio, February SNAP benefits were issued on Jan. 16. February benefits do not have to be spent by Jan. 20. There is no change to the spending/usage requirements of these benefits. These benefits are intended to ensure recipients can shop for food in February.
Families are advised to plan accordingly and make any food assistance they receive in January stretch as long as possible. Because of this early issuance, SNAP recipients may have two months’ worth of food dollars issued to their accounts this month. No food dollars will be added in February.
Because of calls received and confusion expressed by SNAP recipients, ODJFS has added a message to its automated phone system to remind recipients that these benefits are for February.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services manages vital programs that strengthen Ohio families. These include job training and employment services, unemployment insurance, cash and food assistance, child care, child and adult protective services, adoption, and child support services
SPRINGFIELD (Jan. 14, 2019) -- Due to the partial United States government shutdown, authorized February SNAP (Food Assistance) benefits will be available on EBT cards on or before Jan. 20, 2019, according to the Clark County Department of Job and Family Services.
These benefits are intended to purchase food for the month of February. PLEASE NOTE: Participants will NOT receive their benefit on their February load date.
Benefits loaded in January will need to last through February. We do not have any information on issuance for March but will keep recipients informed as soon as more information becomes available.
If we have requested information from recipients, please submit as soon as possible. All paperwork applications can be dropped off at the Clark County Department of Job & Family Services, 1345 Lagonda Ave., Springfield, OH 45503.
